Dr Ryan Duchatel

Dr Ryan Duchatel is a senior researcher and member of the laboratory of Professor Matt Dun at the University of Newcastle. This project seeks to develop a better understanding of DIPG and other Diffuse Midline Glioma’s by studying different combinations of mutations that group together and lead to brain cancer in the brainstem, thalamus and spinal cord. These subgroups will then be evaluated to see how they respond to various chemotherapies using an improved preclinical model. The goal is to develop a more nuanced approach to treatment that will improve treatment efficacy and lead ultimately to a personalised treatment plan for each child. This project is funded in partnership with Little Legs Foundation.
